Where it came from
The Schwifty Rick Pop! figure was released as part of the Pop! Animation line, capturing a specific moment from the Rick and Morty episode Get Schwifty. The design features Rick Sanchez in his iconic lab coat, holding a microphone, referencing the intergalactic music competition plot where Rick is forced to compose a hit song to save Earth from giant extraterrestrial heads. This figure became a staple for collectors looking to immortalize the show's most surreal and comedic plot points in the distinct, large-headed aesthetic popularized by Funko.
Funko’s design team developed this character to align with their standard vinyl collectible format, prioritizing the show's signature art style and Rick's disheveled appearance. As the Rick and Morty franchise grew into a global cultural phenomenon, these figures were produced to meet the demand of an expanding fanbase. The Schwifty Rick variant is widely recognized within the animation collecting community as a quintessential piece of the series' early merchandise run, appreciated for its direct nod to the show's specific brand of improvisational humor.
