Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Games line, this figure depicts Scorpion, the iconic undead specter from the Mortal Kombat franchise, as he appeared in the 2015 title Mortal Kombat X. Created to appeal to both fans of the long-running fighting game series and collectors of stylized vinyl figures, the design translates the character's intricate, gritty armor and signature yellow mask into Funko’s recognizable, simplified aesthetic.
The figure was produced during a period of rapid expansion for Funko’s gaming collection, aiming to capitalize on the mainstream crossover appeal of mature-rated titles. By distilling a character defined by hyper-violence and dark fantasy into a approachable collectible form, the design team focused on maintaining recognizable details—such as the kunai spear and the muted, battle-worn color palette—to ensure it remained faithful to the source material despite the significant stylistic departure from the games.
