Where it came from
The Shadow Guard Pop! figure was released as part of the initial wave of Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise in 2015. While the design is inspired by the elite Imperial Shadow Guards seen in the broader Star Wars Expanded Universe—specifically their first appearance in the video game Star Wars: The Force Unleashed—the figure was branded under the Star Wars: The Force Awakens collection by Funko to coincide with the resurgence of the franchise. It represents a specialized segment of the Imperial remnant, characterized by their dark, stealth-focused armor.
The figure features the standard Funko Pop! aesthetic, characterized by a stylized oversized head and simplified bodily proportions. It was sculpted to reflect the character's signature hooded silhouette and red-tinted visor. Upon release, the figure was notable for being a Walgreens exclusive in the United States, which generated significant interest among dedicated collectors who navigated the retailer's inventory system to track down this specific addition to the Star Wars lineup.
