Sheldon Cooper (Superman Shirt) [2012 SDCC]

Released in 2012 as a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, this figure depicts Sheldon Cooper from the television series The Big Bang Theory. The item was produced by Funko as part of their burgeoning Pop! Television line, which sought to capture the likenesses of iconic sitcom characters in the company's signature stylized, oversized-head aesthetic. This particular version features Sheldon in his characteristic Superman t-shirt, a wardrobe choice synonymous with the character's personality and his well-documented affinity for comic book culture.

The design draws directly from the show's visual identity, utilizing a simplified color palette and a static pose that reflects the character's often rigid demeanor. As an early exclusive, it occupies a significant place in the development of the Pop! vinyl market, marking a period where Funko began to lean heavily into convention-specific variants to engage dedicated fan bases. Upon its release, it was well received by collectors of both the show’s memorabilia and early Pop! figures, eventually becoming a representative piece for the fusion of mainstream television and niche toy collecting.
