Where it came from
The Shenron 10-inch Funko Pop, numbered 859 in the Animation line, was produced to celebrate the iconic wish-granting dragon from the Dragon Ball Z franchise. As a supersized figure, it reflects Funko's strategy to create more imposing, display-worthy versions of beloved anime characters, specifically catering to collectors looking for focal points in their displays rather than standard-sized figures.
The design of this figure leans into the distinctive, serpent-like aesthetic of Shenron, featuring his characteristic green scales, long whiskers, and glowing red eyes. While individual sculptors at Funko are rarely credited by name for specific figures, the design aims to capture the mythical essence of the creature as he appears in the show when summoned by the Dragon Balls. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the series for its scale and detail, quickly becoming a staple in the Dragon Ball Z collecting community.
