Sherman

The Sherman figure was released in 2008 as part of the initial wave of Funko's Pop! Animation line, specifically tied to the Hellboy franchise. This series emerged during the early period of Funko's transition into the vinyl collectible market, focusing on characters from the 2004 and 2008 Hellboy film adaptations. The design reflects the company's early aesthetic approach, featuring a slightly more rigid interpretation of the character than the stylized proportions that would become standard for the Pop! brand in later years.

Designed to capture the aquatic B.P.R.D. agent Abe Sapien—often mistakenly referenced as Sherman by early cataloging errors—the figure was aimed at fans of Mike Mignola's dark, gothic universe. As one of the earliest numbered entries in the Animation line, it represents a experimental phase for the company, where the focus was on establishing a presence in the boutique toy market. It was received by collectors as a niche curiosity, eventually gaining historical significance within the hobby as the brand began its rapid expansion into mainstream pop culture.
