The Queen of Blood

The Queen of Blood Pop! figure was released as part of the Pop! Comics line, specifically representing the character Nimue from Mike Mignola's Hellboy universe. The figure draws inspiration from the character's appearance in the Dark Horse Comics series, particularly the arc titled 'Darkness Calls,' where Nimue assumes her mantle as the Queen of Blood to rally the witches of Britain against Hellboy. The design team at Funko aimed to capture her iconic crown of thorns and regal, yet decaying, aesthetic through the signature stylized proportions of the Pop! line.

Upon its introduction to the Hellboy series, this figure was received by collectors as a faithful adaptation of Mignola’s distinct visual style. By selecting a character of significant narrative importance to the Hellboy mythos, Funko catered to long-time readers of the source material. The design process focused on translating the intricate, atmospheric line work of the comics into a three-dimensional vinyl medium, resulting in a piece that remains a recognizable staple of the Hellboy collection.
