Where it came from
Released as part of the Pop! Animation line, this figure captures Shigure Soma from the beloved manga and anime series Fruits Basket. The item was produced to commemorate the 2019 reboot of the series, which introduced a new generation of fans to Natsuki Takaya’s complex, supernatural narrative about the mysterious Soma family. Shigure, the eldest of the main characters and the owner of the household, is depicted here alongside his zodiac transformation, a cat, representing his role as the Dog of the Chinese zodiac and his deeper connections to the feline spirit.
The design follows Funko’s signature stylized aesthetic, translating Shigure’s composed, often enigmatic appearance into a compact vinyl form. Designers aimed to capture his trademark smirk and traditional attire, balancing the character's laid-back demeanor with his hidden, more manipulative nature. The figure was met with enthusiasm from the Fruits Basket community, serving as a popular piece for collectors looking to complete the core cast of the Shigure house arc.
