Where it came from
Released in 2019, this Funko Pop figure captures a pivotal moment from the 1994 Disney animated classic, The Lion King. The design depicts Simba during his exile in the jungle, joyfully feasting on a slimy yet satisfying grub alongside Timon and Pumbaa. This specific figure was produced as part of the broader Pop! Disney series to coincide with renewed public interest in the franchise during the lead-up to the 2019 live-action reimagining.
The figure is part of the 496 numerical entry in the Disney line, characterized by Funko's signature stylized aesthetic that emphasizes simplified features and oversized heads. The design team focused on translating Simba’s expressive, lighthearted demeanor from the 'Hakuna Matata' sequence into a static collectible form. Upon its release, it became a popular addition for collectors of Disney memorabilia, valued for its representation of one of the film's most iconic and lighthearted musical numbers.
