Where it came from
Skeletor, the primary antagonist of the Masters of the Universe franchise, was originally conceived by Mattel in the early 1980s as a formidable foe for He-Man. This specific Pop! Television figure, numbered 1662, is a recent addition to the Funko line, designed to reflect the iconic, skull-faced aesthetic that has defined the character for decades. The design emphasizes his signature hood and purple armor, aiming to evoke nostalgia while fitting the stylized proportions typical of the Pop! vinyl collection.
The broader Pop! Television line by Funko aims to condense complex pop culture icons into a uniform, collectible format. These figures are generally well-received by fans for their accessibility and consistent visual language, which allows for the creation of extensive displays. This particular iteration of Skeletor serves as a continuation of Funko's long-standing partnership with the Masters of the Universe brand, balancing a modernized look with the traditional color palette familiar to long-term collectors.
