Where it came from
The Sleestak figure, designated number 132 in the Funko Pop television series, pays homage to the primary antagonists from the 1974 cult television series Land of the Lost. Created by Sid and Marty Krofft, the original reptilian creatures were known for their distinct hissing speech and deliberate movements, serving as a signature element of the show's primitive, prehistoric setting. This specific metallic red variant was released as a stylized collectible, reimagining the retro character within the modern Funko aesthetic.
The design draws directly from the costume work seen in the original live-action series, emphasizing the oversized head, scaly texture, and unblinking eyes that made the creatures iconic to 1970s science fiction viewers. By applying a metallic finish to the red-tinted vinyl, the production aimed to provide a high-contrast visual appeal for collectors of niche television memorabilia, bridging the gap between the show's lo-fi production values and the high-polish nature of contemporary toy design.
