Where it came from
The Sprite Bottle Cap Pop! figure was released as part of Funko's Ad Icons line, a series dedicated to honoring the legacy of long-standing corporate mascots and iconic branding. As a nod to the mid-century aesthetic of Coca-Cola's lemon-lime soda, the design personifies the classic metal bottle cap that characterized the brand's early packaging. This item was created to appeal to collectors of vintage advertising memorabilia and soda pop history, reflecting a broader trend of companies utilizing Funko to solidify their status as enduring cultural staples.
The design of the figure leans into a minimalist, anthropomorphic approach, translating the tactile shape of a serrated bottle cap into the standard stylized Pop! silhouette. By focusing on the retro Sprite logo and color scheme, the designers aimed to evoke nostalgia for the mid-to-late 20th-century consumer experience. Upon its debut, the figure was well-received within the hobbyist community, finding its niche among enthusiasts who categorize their collections by industry, specifically those specializing in food and beverage marketing ephemera.
