Where it came from
Released as part of the Funko Pop! Movies line, the figure depicts the character Superfly, the primary antagonist from the 2023 animated film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Produced to coincide with the film's theatrical release, this figure captures the character's unique mutated fly appearance, reflecting the film's distinct, hand-drawn aesthetic and gritty character design style overseen by director Jeff Rowe and production designer Yashar Kassai.
The character design for Superfly serves as a modern reimagining of the classic mutant trope within the Ninja Turtles universe, emphasizing a stylized and somewhat chaotic visual language that defines the movie. Upon release, the figure was met with interest from both collectors of the Pop! brand and fans of the film's innovative animation style, serving as a tangible representation of the movie's attempt to revitalize the iconic franchise for a new generation.
