Where it came from
The Count, also known as Count von Count, was introduced to Sesame Street in 1972 as a pedagogical tool designed to teach children basic arithmetic through his signature obsession with counting. The character was puppeteered and voiced by Jerry Nelson, who imbued the vampire with a distinct, enthusiastic personality that transformed a potentially frightening figure into a beloved, humorous staple of children's television.
This Funko Pop! iteration, numbered 1792 within the Television line, serves as a modern tribute to the character’s enduring pop-culture legacy. The design captures the Count’s iconic monocle, tuxedo, and flowing cape, reflecting a standard aesthetic transition from Jim Henson’s Muppet design to the stylized, large-eyed vinyl form that defines the contemporary collectibles market.
