Where it came from
Big Bird is a central character of the long-running educational program Sesame Street, which debuted in 1969 to leverage the medium of television for early childhood development. This specific Pop! figure was released as part of the Funko Pop! Television line to celebrate the enduring legacy of the program. The design captures the character's signature bright yellow feathers and friendly demeanor, translating the iconic Jim Henson-designed puppet into the stylized, large-headed aesthetic characteristic of the Funko brand.
The figure serves as a collectible homage to the cultural impact of Sesame Street, which has remained a staple of children's media for over five decades. Like other entries in the Television series, the Big Bird figure aims to evoke nostalgia for adult collectors while maintaining the recognizable features that define the character for younger generations. It reflects the ongoing popularity of the show's cast, which continues to be represented in various commemorative merchandise and licensing collaborations.
