Where it came from
The Spot [GITD] (Special Edition) #1226 was released by Funko as part of their Pop! Marvel line, specifically capturing the antagonist from the 2023 animated film Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. As a glow-in-the-dark variant, this figure was designed to highlight the character's unique trans-dimensional body, featuring his signature ink-blot portals and unstable aesthetic that defines his appearance in the film.
The design draws heavily from the artistic direction of the Spider-Verse series, which emphasizes comic-book-inspired line work and kinetic visual storytelling. By incorporating glow-in-the-dark elements, Funko aimed to replicate the ethereal and ominous nature of the character's powers. Like many special edition releases in the Marvel series, this figure was positioned for collectors seeking to complete their sets based on the film's ensemble cast, reflecting the broader trend of translating stylized animation into vinyl figures.
