Where it came from
The Undersea Gal figure was released by Funko as part of its Pop! Disney line, specifically designated as number 601 within the Nightmare Before Christmas collection. The character appears briefly in the 1993 film during the song 'Town Meeting Song,' serving as one of the many denizens of Halloween Town. This figure was produced to expand the depth of the franchise’s merchandise, catering to fans interested in the film’s distinctive, diverse background character designs.
The design of the figure reflects the aesthetic established by Tim Burton's original sketches for the film, emphasizing the stylized, long-limbed proportions characteristic of the Pop! vinyl aesthetic. As with other entries in this series, the figure was sculpted to translate the stop-motion puppet appearance into the company’s signature oversized-head format. It was met with positive reception from completionist collectors who prioritize background characters that contribute to the atmospheric world-building of the movie.
