Yang Xiao Long

Yang Xiao Long, designated as number 589 in the Pop! Animation series, was released by Funko to celebrate the stylized characters of the web series RWBY. Produced by Rooster Teeth and originally created by Monty Oum, the show gained a dedicated following for its unique fusion of anime aesthetics and western storytelling. Funko sought to translate the high-energy, combat-ready character designs of the series into their signature vinyl figure format, preserving Yang's iconic golden hair and signature Ember Celica gauntlets.

The design process focused on capturing the bold, spirited personality of the character through a simplified, compact silhouette. By distilling Yang's complex combat gear and vibrant color palette into the classic Funko aesthetic, the figure serves as a piece of merchandise that bridges the gap between digital animation and physical collectibility. Upon its release, the figure was well-received by the RWBY fan community as an accessible way to display their affinity for the series’ central protagonists.
