Where it came from
The Army Men on Patrol set, released in 2010 under the Toy Story subtheme of the Disney/Pixar license, was designed to coincide with the theatrical release of Toy Story 3. It features the iconic plastic green soldiers seen throughout the film franchise, capturing the spirit of the characters who appear as tactical figures in Andy's room. The set was engineered to provide fans with a modular squad, complete with a jeep, a stretcher, and various military accessories that mirror the specific aesthetic and equipment used by the soldiers in the animated films.
LEGO designers focused on recreating the signature monochromatic green look of the original plastic soldiers, utilizing specialized injection molding to maintain the uniform appearance seen in the movies. The set was generally well-received by fans for its accuracy and for finally providing official minifigures of the green army men, which had been highly requested since the inception of the LEGO Toy Story line. It serves as a nostalgic piece for those who grew up with both the classic green army men toys and the cinematic universe of Toy Story.
