Where it came from
The LEGO DUPLO Around the World set, released in 2016, was designed as part of a series intended to introduce young children to global geography and wildlife. It serves as a large-scale playset that emphasizes tactile learning through the assembly of diverse habitats and recognizable animal figures, encouraging early childhood development by linking physical play to the concept of different environments.
The design of this set was led by the LEGO Group's focus on inclusivity and educational play patterns. By featuring a variety of figures, including travelers, children, and numerous animals from different regions, the designers aimed to provide a comprehensive starter kit for creative world-building. Upon its release, it was well-received by parents and educators for its versatility and the durability of the larger-scale DUPLO bricks.
