Around-the-House Set

The Around-the-House Set, cataloged as 9130-1, was released in 1977 as part of the LEGO universal building set line. During this era, the company sought to move beyond dedicated vehicle or structure kits, instead offering collections of basic bricks and specialty pieces designed to facilitate open-ended creative play. This particular set was intended to allow builders to construct domestic-themed items, such as furniture and small appliances, bridging the gap between architectural modeling and miniature home scenes.

The design of the set reflects the aesthetic of the late 1970s, characterized by a specific primary-color palette and a focus on simple geometry. Unlike later theme-heavy kits, the Around-the-House set relied on the builder's imagination to define the final form of the models, consistent with the company's long-standing philosophy of fostering technical and artistic development through modular play. It was received as a practical accessory pack for children looking to expand their existing brick collections with versatile, household-oriented elements.
