Where it came from
Blocks magazine issue 25 was published in early 2016 as an independent monthly periodical dedicated to the hobby of LEGO building. Created to fill a gap in the market for enthusiast-led journalism, the publication focused on providing a deeper look at new set releases, designer interviews, and community-driven projects. This specific issue arrived during a period of rapid growth for the magazine, as it transitioned into a more established presence within the global fan community by offering high-quality photography and long-form analytical content.
The editorial direction for this issue prioritized technical reviews and aesthetic critiques, reflecting the magazine’s goal of catering to adult fans of LEGO who sought content beyond general marketing materials. The design team employed a clean, modular layout that echoed the geometric principles of the bricks themselves, emphasizing large-scale images and professional typography. Upon its release, the issue was well-received for its balanced approach, serving as both a collector’s resource and a platform for highlighting the creativity inherent in the hobby.
