Where it came from
Blocks magazine issue 26 was published in early 2017 as part of the independent monthly publication's ongoing coverage of the LEGO hobbyist community. This particular issue emerged during a period when the magazine was solidifying its reputation as a primary resource for adult fans of LEGO, moving beyond simple news to include in-depth interviews, historical retrospectives, and professional-grade photography that appealed to a maturing collector base.
The editorial direction for this issue, like its predecessors, was overseen by the Blocks team who sought to bridge the gap between casual play and serious technical building. The design aesthetic emphasized clean layouts and high-contrast imagery, intended to showcase the intricate detail of custom builds and official sets alike. It was received well by the enthusiast community for its commitment to high-quality print journalism in an increasingly digital hobby space.
