Where it came from
The Bounty Boat, set 6247, was released by the LEGO Group in 1993 as part of the Pirates theme. It served as a smaller, accessible entry in the line, depicting a rowboat carrying a single pirate and his treasure. This period in the early 1990s marked the height of the original Pirates series, which was celebrated for introducing unique molded elements, such as the boat hull itself, and thematic accessories like treasure chests and flintlock pistols.
The design focused on playability and affordability, offering a quick-build companion piece to larger flagships like the Black Seas Barracuda. While the set was modest in scale, it captured the adventurous spirit of the theme's aesthetic, characterized by earthy tones and period-accurate weaponry. It remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors of the classic 1990s era, reflecting the simple yet imaginative design philosophy that defined the company's expansion into story-driven modular playsets.
