BYGGLEK boxes, set of 3

The BYGGLEK collection was released in 2020 as a collaborative effort between IKEA and the LEGO Group, designed to bridge the gap between creative play and household organization. The boxes were engineered with a standard LEGO stud pattern on the lids and faces, allowing them to serve as both functional storage containers and integrated foundations for building projects. The project aimed to remove the stigma of children's play creating clutter, encouraging users to display their unfinished or completed builds rather than hiding them away.

The collection was developed by IKEA designer Andreas Fredriksson, who collaborated closely with LEGO designers to ensure the system adhered to the specific brick-clutching standards of the toy manufacturer. The design aesthetic is distinctly utilitarian, favoring minimalist white plastic that aligns with IKEA's Scandinavian design philosophy. Upon release, the set was praised for its simplicity and accessibility, though some enthusiasts noted that the internal dimensions are not specifically optimized for the structural geometry of standard LEGO bricks.
