Where it came from
Released in 2022 as part of the LEGO City Stuntz subtheme, the Chimpanzee Smash Stunt Loop was designed to inject high-octane, action-oriented play into the traditional City line. The set features a flywheel-powered motorcycle capable of traversing a loop-de-loop obstacle, centered around a mechanical, arm-swinging chimpanzee figure that acts as a kinetic barrier for the stunt rider.
The design emphasizes the transition of the LEGO City brand toward interactive play, moving away from static building models toward modular, motion-based stunt courses. The bright aesthetic and exaggerated physical hazard were aimed at younger builders looking for a dynamic experience, marking a clear departure from the more architectural or civic-focused sets that typically define the City collection.
