Destiny's Shadow

Destiny's Shadow, released in 2017 as part of the LEGO Ninjago 'Hands of Time' subtheme, was designed to represent a versatile tactical vehicle capable of both aquatic and aerial traversal. The set was conceived during a period where the Ninjago narrative focused on the Time Twins, Krux and Acronix, and the vehicle was engineered to reflect the sleek, high-speed aesthetic characteristic of the series' mid-era designs. It centers on a hydro-plane configuration that allows for modular play, bridging the gap between land-based Ninjago sets and the watery environments central to the season's plot.

The design of the craft emphasizes a sharp, angular silhouette accented by the distinct red, black, and white color scheme associated with the Ninja's equipment of that cycle. Designers aimed to create a robust play experience that featured multiple flick-fire missiles and a detachable boat, ensuring the set functioned as a core play piece within the 2017 lineup. Upon release, it was well-received by fans of the theme for its ability to fold its wings into a specialized watercraft mode, effectively demonstrating the inventive mechanical transformations that defined the Ninjago toy line during this period.
