Where it came from
The Vermillion Invader, set 70624-1, was released in 2017 as part of the LEGO Ninjago subtheme centered on the Hands of Time arc. This set was designed to represent the aesthetic of the Vermillion army, the primary antagonists of the season, characterized by a distinct color palette of deep red and gold, reflecting their snake-themed, industrial, and somewhat grotesque influence on the Ninjago world.
The model features a mechanized vehicle with a rotating gear-driven hammer function, designed to capture the frantic and aggressive nature of the Vermillion soldiers. As a mid-sized set in the product line, it received attention for its inclusion of unique minifigures, specifically Commander Raggmunk and Slackjaw, which allowed builders to expand their collection of the snake-themed villains that defined the visual identity of the 2017 LEGO Ninjago lineup.
