Where it came from
The Discowgirl Guitarist was released in 2021 as part of the Vidiyo theme, a collaborative digital music-making toy line developed by the LEGO Group in partnership with Universal Music Group. Designed to integrate with a dedicated augmented reality app, the minifigure served as a physical key to unlock digital effects and performances within the virtual platform.
The character design leans into a vibrant, kitschy aesthetic, blending traditional country-western motifs like a cowboy hat and fringe with bright, neon-centric disco sensibilities. While the broader Vidiyo line faced mixed reception due to its reliance on digital connectivity and app stability, the minifigure series was noted by enthusiasts for its expressive dual-sided head prints and high level of detail on the torso and leg elements.
