Where it came from
The Dolphin set, cataloged as 562007-1, was released as part of the Lego Friends theme, which debuted in 2012. This specific polybag promotional item was designed to expand the play potential of the Heartlake City environment, focusing on the accessible, character-driven narrative that defined the theme’s launch. The set features a small marine enclosure model accompanied by a dolphin figure, reflecting the theme's emphasis on animal care and friendship-based roleplay.
The design of the set aligns with the broader aesthetic of the Friends line, utilizing the specific color palette of teal, pink, and bright purple that distinguishes the theme from traditional Lego sets. As a promotional polybag, it was intended to serve as an entry-level introduction to the characters and the marine-centric sub-themes prevalent in the early years of the line. It was generally well-received by younger collectors for its simplicity and the inclusion of a popular animal figure, maintaining the thematic consistency established by the brand's pivot toward more detailed, story-based building experiences.
