Where it came from
The LEGO City Downtown Fire Brigade, set 60216-1, was released in 2019 as part of the long-running LEGO City fire subtheme. Designed to provide a complex, large-scale play experience, the set reflects the brand's commitment to creating immersive urban environments that appeal to younger builders while incorporating functional mechanical elements like a rotating ladder and a light-and-sound brick.
The design focuses on a modular architectural style, featuring a three-level building with a roof terrace and a construction site crane. By including a variety of specialized vehicles and a cast of minifigures, the designers aimed to facilitate dynamic rescue-themed narratives. It was received by the enthusiast community as a robust addition to the City theme, noted particularly for its variety of play features and its ability to integrate seamlessly into larger street layouts.
