Where it came from
Released in 2018 as part of the Lego Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu 'Hunt for the Dragon' subtheme, Firstbourne represents the Mother of all Dragons within the series lore. Designed as a flagship set for the season, it was created to capture the scale and mythological importance of the character, featuring intricate brick-built wings and a specialized head piece that distinguished it from smaller dragon sets released throughout the franchise's history.
The set was received positively by the collector community for its sophisticated color palette and functional play features, such as the flick-fire missiles and flapping wing mechanisms. Designers focused on articulation to allow for dynamic posing, reflecting the character's status as the progenitor of the elemental dragons in the Ninjago narrative, making it a centerpiece for fans of the long-running television series.
