Where it came from
Released in 1993, the 8835 Forklift is a classic representative of the LEGO Technic line during the early 1990s. At this time, the Technic theme was pivoting toward more realistic, mechanical functions, moving away from the simpler studs-up aesthetic toward the complex gear systems and pneumatic functions that would eventually define the brand's engineering identity.
The model was designed to showcase the utility of the Technic pneumatic system, allowing users to operate the lifting mechanism through manual air pressure. Its design relies on a functional, industrial aesthetic that emphasizes the mechanical movement of the mast and the steering linkage, reflecting the period's focus on demonstrating practical engineering principles through modular construction.
