Where it came from
Released in 2002 under the LEGO 'Creative Building' category, the Fun With Bricks set (4628-1) was designed as a classic supplemental pack for children. It arrived during a period when the company was expanding its focus on basic, open-ended play experiences, offering a versatile selection of standard bricks in primary colors rather than specialized pieces for a singular build.
The set was developed to provide a foundational toolkit for hobbyists of all skill levels, emphasizing the core LEGO philosophy of unstructured creativity. While it lacks the intricate mechanisms or licensed themes of contemporary sets, it gained a modest reputation among enthusiasts for its high count of essential elements, serving as a reliable staple for expanding existing collections.
