Where it came from
Released in 2012 as part of the Lego Duplo product line, Fun With Bricks (set 4627-1) was designed to provide young children with an essential foundational collection of building elements. The set features a classic assortment of primary-colored rectangular and square bricks, specifically sized for smaller hands to help develop fine motor skills and spatial awareness during early childhood play.
The design of this set adheres to the established Duplo aesthetic, which dates back to the late 1960s when Lego introduced larger bricks that were physically compatible with standard Lego bricks but scaled to be safe and manageable for toddlers. By focusing on a minimalist selection of shapes rather than themed characters or specialized vehicle parts, the set served as an open-ended creative tool intended to integrate seamlessly into existing Duplo collections.
