Where it came from
Released in 2004 under the Lego Creator theme, the Fun with Building Tub was designed as a versatile starter kit intended to encourage open-ended creative play. By providing a wide assortment of basic bricks rather than a rigid instruction-led build, the set aimed to introduce younger builders to the core principles of Lego construction, emphasizing the ability to build multiple models from a single collection of parts.
The set was packaged in a durable plastic storage tub, a design choice meant to facilitate long-term organization and appeal to parents looking for a practical entry point into the hobby. It was received as a utilitarian addition to the Creator line, balancing the playability of classic brick-building with the convenience of self-contained storage, which helped cement its role as a common household staple for families during the mid-2000s.
