Fun With Building Tub

The Fun With Building tub, designated as set 4496-3, was released in the mid-2000s as part of the LEGO Education line. Unlike standard retail sets intended for hobbyist play, this collection was specifically engineered for institutional environments such as preschools and primary classrooms. The primary objective behind its development was to provide educators with a versatile assortment of basic building elements that could facilitate collaborative learning and encourage the development of fine motor skills in younger children.

The design follows the traditional LEGO Duplo aesthetic, prioritizing large, brightly colored bricks that are safe for younger users while maintaining compatibility with the broader system. Because it was marketed as a foundational resource rather than a thematic playset, it lacks a specific illustrator or singular design auteur, reflecting instead the established pedagogical standards of the brand's educational division at the time. It remains regarded by collectors as a utilitarian staple of classroom infrastructure rather than a specialized display piece.
