Where it came from
The LEGO Ninjago minifigure of Master Wu, specifically the iteration found in set 111902-2, was produced as part of the long-running Ninjago theme. The character of Master Wu serves as the central mentor figure within the narrative, embodying the archetype of the wise martial arts teacher. This particular version was released to support the ongoing line of construction sets, which draw inspiration from East Asian aesthetic traditions and fantasy martial arts tropes to create a distinct identity within the LEGO portfolio.
The design of this minifigure reflects the character's role as a seasoned sensei, featuring specialized elements such as his iconic conical straw hat and a printed torso that mimics traditional robes. The Ninjago theme was originally launched by LEGO in 2011, and the design language for Master Wu has remained consistent over the years to preserve his recognizability. Upon its release, the theme was well-received for its blend of original storytelling and dynamic character designs, successfully establishing a dedicated fanbase that continues to value these core character representations.
