Where it came from
Released in 2014 as part of the Lego City Police subtheme, the High Speed Police Chase set was designed to capture the dynamic energy of a roadside pursuit. It centers on the core play pattern of law enforcement catching a fleeing criminal, a staple theme that has remained a cornerstone of the City line for decades to provide children with relatable, high-action scenarios.
The set includes a sleek police interceptor and a rugged criminal's getaway vehicle, both utilizing the standard six-stud-wide vehicle chassis common to the era. Designers focused on a high-contrast color scheme of black, white, and blue for the police unit, contrasted against the criminal’s dark, angular aesthetic to clearly differentiate the two sides of the chase for younger builders.
