Where it came from
The LEGO City Arctic Exploration Team, set 60191-1, was released in 2018 as part of the broader Arctic subtheme within the LEGO City line. This collection was designed to capture the spirit of modern scientific discovery, featuring an expedition team equipped with specialized snow gear and a snowmobile to navigate harsh, frozen landscapes. The set serves as a gateway to the Arctic theme, focusing on the equipment and minifigures essential for exploration rather than large-scale base structures.
The aesthetic of this set reflects LEGO's commitment to immersive, functional play, emphasizing the vibrant orange and white color palette that has become synonymous with the City Arctic theme. It was developed to engage younger builders by providing high-utility, accessory-heavy models that complement the larger vehicles and research stations released alongside it. Upon its debut, it was well received by the community for its compact size and the inclusion of detailed equipment pieces, which added a layer of realism to the adventurous narrative intended for the series.
