Where it came from
The Land Bounty, set number 70677-1, was released in 2019 as part of the LEGO Ninjago 'Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu' wave. This set was designed as a mobile command center for the ninja team, meant to traverse the harsh, desert-like terrain of the Never-Realm. It features a sophisticated steering mechanism, retractable wheel wells for flight mode, and a detachable flyer, reflecting the series' recurring themes of technological versatility and tactical adaptation in the face of ancient elemental threats.
The design of the Land Bounty draws heavy inspiration from the classic 'Destiny's Bounty' ship, reinterpreting its aesthetic into a heavy-duty, treaded land vehicle. Its visual language utilizes the sharp angles and vibrant color schemes synonymous with late-era Ninjago, incorporating functional play features like a rotating cannon and an opening cockpit. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans for its substantial piece count and the inclusion of nine minifigures, which made it a centerpiece model for that season's narrative arc.
