Where it came from
LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues was released in 2009 as a sequel to the 2008 original title, developed by Traveller's Tales and published by LucasArts. Unlike its predecessor, this installment expanded the scope to include the narrative of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull while introducing a redesigned level creator and a more open-world approach to the hub environments. The game was designed to blend the traditional brick-based puzzle mechanics with a broader scope of playable characters from the entire Indiana Jones film franchise.
The reception of the title focused on its accessibility and the humor characteristic of the LEGO gaming series at the time. Critics often highlighted the addition of a split-screen co-op mode as a significant improvement over the first game, allowing players to move independently within the play area. It remains a notable entry in the LEGO software library for its departure from the linear level progression typical of early franchise entries, favoring a sandbox style that influenced later developments in the Traveller's Tales catalogue.
