Where it came from
LEGO Indiana Jones 2: The Adventure Continues was released in 2009 as a follow-up to the 2008 video game adaptation of the iconic film franchise. Developed by Traveller's Tales, the title was designed to bridge the gap between the original trilogy and the 2008 film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The game introduced a level editor and a split-screen co-op mode, marking a shift toward more creative, sandbox-style gameplay within the established LEGO video game engine.
The aesthetic of the game stays true to the established visual identity of LEGO titles from that era, prioritizing playful, blocky renditions of cinematic environments. While received with generally positive reviews for its humor and accessibility, the game was noted for its departure from the linear level progression of its predecessor. It remains a notable entry in the LEGO series, reflecting the transition period where TT Games began incorporating more expansive, open-world mechanics into their licensed software lineup.
