Where it came from
The LEGO Minifigures Series 25, released in early 2024, represents the latest iteration of a blind-bag tradition that began in 2010. This series was designed to celebrate the breadth of the LEGO creative universe, moving away from licensed intellectual properties to focus on whimsical, original character concepts. The lineup includes a diverse array of personalities, such as a fierce Barbarian, a Triceratops costume fan, and a retro-inspired fitness instructor, each reflecting the playful design philosophy that has defined the theme for over a decade.
The transition for Series 25 involved a significant shift in packaging, moving from the traditional flexible foil bags to cardboard boxes. This change was implemented by the LEGO Group as part of a broader commitment to environmental sustainability, aiming to reduce single-use plastic across its product lines. While the new packaging initially challenged collectors accustomed to the 'feel-test' method of identifying figures, it was widely received as a necessary evolution for the brand, maintaining the excitement of the mystery while aligning with modern corporate responsibility standards.
