Where it came from
Released by The LEGO Group in 2012, Series 8 of the Collectible Minifigures line marked the eighth iteration of their successful blind-bagged character series. The collection was designed to provide fans with a diverse range of unique, thematic characters that were not tied to any specific licensed property, allowing the design team at LEGO to explore whimsical concepts ranging from historical figures to fantastical creatures.
The figures were conceptualized by the internal LEGO design team, focusing on intricate printing and unique accessory combinations to differentiate them from standard set-based minifigures. The series was well-received by the collector community for its variety and the inclusion of detailed elements like the Fairy's translucent wings and the DJ's printed turntables, solidifying the series' status as a staple for adult and child collectors alike.
