Where it came from
Released in 2012 as the seventh installment of the long-running LEGO Minifigures blind-bag series, this collection features sixteen unique characters designed to be sold in opaque packaging. This blind-bag format was a strategic departure from traditional themed sets, aimed at fostering a sense of discovery and encouraging trade among enthusiasts. The lineup reflects a eclectic mix of historical archetypes and whimsical original concepts, including the Aztec Warrior, the Grandma, and the Swimming Champion, representing the playful experimentation that characterized the line's early years.
The design team at LEGO sought to balance historical curiosity with classic character tropes, utilizing intricate printing and specialized molded accessories to distinguish these figures from standard set-based minifigures. As with previous series, the set was received as a highly accessible entry point for adult collectors and children alike, revitalizing interest in minifigure-scale storytelling. The series is particularly noted for its varied color palettes and the introduction of unique headgear pieces that have since become staples in the wider LEGO ecosystem.
