Play with Braille - Italian Alphabet

Released by the LEGO Group in 2023, the 'Play with Braille - Italian Alphabet' set was developed as part of a broader educational initiative to promote inclusive learning. The project emerged from a collaboration between the LEGO Foundation and various international organizations for the blind, aiming to provide a tactile, interactive way for children with visual impairments to learn Braille alongside their sighted peers. The design approach focuses on universality, ensuring that every stud on the bricks corresponds to a specific Braille letter, number, or punctuation mark while maintaining full compatibility with the classic LEGO system.

The set was created to bridge the gap between traditional tactile learning tools and standard play materials, moving away from specialized, isolated equipment. By integrating Braille characters directly onto the studs of the iconic plastic bricks, the designers intended to foster collaborative play and literacy development in inclusive classroom environments. Since its introduction, the initiative has received significant praise from educators and disability advocacy groups for its practical application in schools and homes, being recognized for its effectiveness in making literacy acquisition a more engaging and accessible experience.
