Where it came from
The LEGO Play with Braille - Spanish Alphabet set, numbered 40724-1, was developed as part of a broader educational initiative to promote inclusive learning through tactile play. Released to expand the accessibility of the LEGO Braille Bricks program, the set is designed to help children who are blind or visually impaired develop literacy skills, while also offering a tactile way for sighted children and educators to learn the Spanish Braille alphabet alongside standard printed characters.
The bricks feature studs arranged to correspond to the Braille system, with the printed letter or symbol displayed alongside the tactile dots. This design was informed by extensive consultation with educational experts and organizations for the visually impaired to ensure the tool remained functional and intuitive for early learners. The set received a positive reception for its role in bridging inclusive play spaces and standardizing tactile educational resources within the classroom and at home.
