Where it came from
Released in 1999 as part of the Lego Duplo Town theme, the Police Helicopter (set 2675-1) was designed to introduce younger children to emergency services through simple, chunky elements. At the time, the Duplo line was expanding its focus on vocational roles to encourage imaginative play, moving beyond basic building blocks toward more specialized, character-driven sets that were durable enough for smaller hands.
The design prioritizes safety and ease of use, featuring a robust, one-piece fuselage and a single-blade rotor system that emphasizes primary colors and rounded edges. While the set lacked the complexity of standard Lego System sets, it was well-received by parents and early childhood educators for its ability to foster narrative play while maintaining the high safety standards characteristic of the Duplo brand during that era.
