Where it came from
Released in 2015 as part of the LEGO Star Wars Planet series successor, the 75079 Shadow Troopers Battle Pack was designed to provide builders with an affordable entry point for army building. It features figures based on the Expanded Universe concepts of the Shadow Stormtroopers and Shadow Guards, units often associated with clandestine Imperial operations in various Star Wars video games and comic series.
The set was conceived by the LEGO design team to offer a mix of minifigures and a small, buildable speeder vehicle, reflecting the standard format of the Battle Pack line. While the specific aesthetics draw from established Star Wars lore rather than a single cinematic moment, the set was well-received by fans of the franchise for the inclusion of unique, all-black armored troopers that provided a distinct visual departure from the standard white Imperial infantry.
